If your window won't go up or down but you can hear the window motor running and maybe hear
a thump thump sound, chances are it's the nylon gears in the window motor and not the regulator.
The good news is it can be rebuilt quit easily.

You will need to remove the regulator and motor as a unit. This will require you to drill out
the rivets holding the regulator onto the doors inner panel.

You will need:

  • 4 - 1/4 in.-20 x 1/2 in. serrated flange bolts(standard bolts will work)
  • 4 - 1/4 in.-20 self locking nuts(standard nut will work if using thread lock sealer)
  • 1 - 1/4 in.-20 x 2-1/2 in. bolt with nut
  • 1/4 inch drill bit and drill motor
  • Standard SAE socket set
  • Phillips head screw driver
  • Broad flat blade screw driver

  • Door panel removal
Starting at the lower edge and to the right of the switches, pull or pry out the triangular shaped panel insert. Disconnect the wires from the back of the switches then locate and remove the screw in the metal bracket that was hidden behind the panel insert. Lift the door panel about 1 to 1-1/2 inches to dislodge the panels clips then tilt the top away and lift off of door.

    Speaker and water shield removal
Remove the speaker screws and remove the speaker. Remove the foam gasket from around the handle and carefully remove the shield from the doors inner panel and set in a safe location where it will not be damaged.
